Our committee members gain great satisfaction from the fact that Borders Children’s Charity exists to improve the lives of young people in the Scottish Borders. We are a local charity that supports local people.
Our committee members are not paid, as all the money raised is used to improve the lives of local young people. Funding raising is not part of our members role.
The main role is to attend our monthly committee meeting (2 hours per month), where you can contribute constructively to discussions and be involved in the allocation of funding for projects. This can range from agreeing clothing for a child to funding towards school trips.
People who volunteer usually have:
- Awareness of local issues that impact children and young people
- Have values aligned with the aims of Borders Children’s Charity
- Able to think creatively and exercise good, independent judgement
- Able to work effectively in a team
- May have relevant lived experience or knowledge useful such as a background in Health and Social Care, Education, other charity work, HR, finance, fund raising etc
