This page explains what happens to information about you when someone asks Borders Children’s Charity for help.
What do we know?
A parent, carer or trusted professional may tell us your name, age, where you live, what help is needed and why it would help you. Sometimes they may tell us something important about your health or disability. We ask them not to send medical records.
Why do we need it?
Our volunteers use the information to decide whether the charity can help and to arrange the grant. We only need information that helps us make that decision.
Who sees it?
Only charity volunteers and trusted service providers who need it. If we approve help, a bank or supplier may receive the details needed to make a payment. We do not sell your information or use it for advertising.
How long do we keep it?
We normally keep grant records for up to seven years, because charities must keep proper financial records. We then securely delete or anonymise them.
You can ask us
You can ask what information we have, tell us if it is wrong, or ask us to stop using or delete it where the law allows. You can speak to a parent, carer or trusted adult, or email chair@borderschildrenscharity.org.uk. Asking a question will not get anyone into trouble or unfairly affect a grant request.
