Project Funding Round 1

BORDERS CHILDRENS CHARITY PROJECT FUNDING ROUND 1

Borders Children's Charity aims to ease financial hardship, increase inclusion and improve resilience by enabling opportunities that focus on well-being and quality of life, building self-confidence and advancing education.

Applications for grant funding to a maximum of £5000 per project are being invited to support initiatives which are based in the Scottish Borders and would benefit wider groups of children and young people with their educational and social development and health and wellbeing. These projects should be sustainable and have a long-lasting effect.

The Subsidy Control Act 2022 provides for a mechanism called Minimal Financial Assistance (MFA) to allow authorities to provide grants that are considered small enough to support individual business without giving them unfair advantage.

If a subsidy is being provided under this mechanism, it will be described as a “Minimal Assistance Subsidy”. Minimal Financial Assistance can be provided in a number of different ways, including:

A grant (this is the most common way to deliver MFA)
    A loan
    A guarantee
    A free or subsidised service
    Rates relief from local authorities
